Four Season Durian

19th July 2008

Continuing my food adventure after dinner at Werner's Oven.....

We took a while to digest our food and proceeded to Four Season Durian at Joo Chiat for Supper.

We requested on the Original XO Durian which characteristic are small fruit, white flesh and with the most bitter taste among its durian family.

The durian 'sales person' recommended another type which he claimed was also XO Durian. Well, I knew it was not the 'real' thing but we still accepted it because there were no other durian stalls nearby for alternatives. He finally admitted that the 'real' XO (which he told us was from Segamat, Johor) was sold out. Alright, at least he was 'frank' after 'cheating' our trust. Haha..

Kelvin thought that the durian was good. Well, as for me, since I have a 'gold' mouth and will only proclaim the white flesh sibling as the real heir to the throne, I still think the $20 per kg durian a tad too sweet for my liking although it was definitely more bitter than other cheaper durians.

The coconut at $3 is not cheap but better than my bad durian experience at one of the stalls in Sims Ave (Near Geylang). We paid $10 for two coconuts and that guy did not give us any change so we asked and he told us it was $5 per coconut. Well, again, it was our stupidity not to ask before ordering. That's one experience that made me wiser.

Still trying to accept the fact that I cannot satisfy my desire for my favourite durian...

Well, it's ok. XO Durian! I am going after you next Saturday! That's today!

Werner's Oven

Dinner last Saturday (19th July 2008) was at Werner's Oven.

Passed by this restaurant while we were looking for a place for our meal around East Coast area. (The huge pretzel hanging from the ceiling is so cute, really spiced up the family style restaurant)

The moment I step into the restaurant, I can smell the delicious food on the tables. Yum!! I presumed that the food would not disappoint and sure was I right! This place is a must-go for all German Food lovers like me. The food is oh-so delicious!

Soup - German Green Pea Soup
We had the large bowl at $9.80 (small bowl is $6.80)

Yummy! The best part is the sausage cubes which made the soup even more toothsome!

Too bad the bun that came with it was cold and slightly tough.

Appetiser - Cheese served with Cranberry Sauce $9.80 (Fritierter Camembert Käsebreaded) This is Camembert Cheese, breaded and deep fried, served with Jam-like Cranberry Sauce. The cheese has a chewy texture. It taste good with or without the Sauce. I think it tasted more like dessert rather than an appetiser.

Main Course - Farmer's sausage $21.50
The sausage was very very tasty. Must-try! The sauerkraut was just right, not too sour. However, the potato salad can do with a little improvement, was a bit bland, maybe lacking in some herbs or bacon bits?

Yummy, so full, wonder whether we still can have durian for dessert later???

It's been a long time since I found the right restaurant for the perfect meal in Singapore (My last treasure find was New Green Pasture).

My idea for perfect dinner means that the overall dinner experience must be good enough for me to decide that I will want to come again and I finally found it at Werner's Oven! Yay!

I still cant forget the mouth watering black forest cake I ate in Titisee, Germany, so I have been keen to try the black forest cake in every German Restaurant that I can find in Singapore ever since I am back.

I was disappointed when I could not find it at Paulaner Bräuhaus, the 1st German Restaurant that I visited after my holiday. I thought I was in for another disappointment when I couldnt find the cake in Werner's menu. However, upon checking out with the boss's daughter, I was delighted to find that they actually do made-to-order black forest cake (min. 1 kg/$45). I am definitely going to try it some day.

There are quite a number of good and bad online reviews on Werner's. Well, it's individualism at work. In spite of that, I do sincerely recommend German food enthusiast to try it. (This restaurant lasted almost 20years for a reason :) )

End of dinner, supper cum dessert time at Four Season Durians later!!!

Delicious Organic Food at New Green Pasture Cafe

Went to Green Pasture Cafe at Fortune Centre for Dinner last Tuesday 8th July 2008. This is one of my favourite eatery cos I think they serve the best healthy organic vegetarian food in Sg.

The food in the picture is sushi without rice which taste better than the original sushi, this is a must try for all.

Witty Kitten ungrading in progress

Since I am still not very familiar with managing blogging site, I have decided to burn my weekends and take a blogging course at the community centre for the next two coming saturdays. (Alright, laugh all you want, I admit I am a blogging dummy, hee...)

Have to bear with this not so pretty blog for the time being. Hope I know how to 'beautify' the blog after the course. God bless me!!!

YCKSS Gathering at IKOI, Miramar Hotel (Friday, 11 July 2008)

Before the babes and hunks arrive...

Met up with my YCKSS schoolmates yesterday evening at Ikoi Japanese Restaurant. As we had 13 ppl, we were able to book the VIP Room.

Instead of sitting down and getting ready for food, camera phones and cameras started emerging out of everyone's hand and we started a maniac photo taking spree, LOL! We took pictures of the food, the deco of the room and even venture into the private kitchen intended for our private VIP food preparation! We look more like tourists than diners, LOL!

Finally can settle down and have our meal.

Salmon Appetiser
Star of the show!!! My favourite!!! Sashimi!!! Attack!!!

The soup was nice... Much better than the last few time when I visited. It was bland and we just left the soup alone. This time almost all the soup was slurped up...Yum!!

Halfway through eating, we were all too full to continue. Since it was too early to end, we started on our maniac photo taking spree again before carrying on bingeing. This time not on the 'Jappy' Room but on the stars of the show --- US!
Havent seen Winnie in years and she still look the same even though she's pregnant!!!
The lovely couple whom will be tying the knot real soon! Congrats and I cant wait to join in the blissful occasion. Wedding always excite me! I love weddings!

Baby coming up August 6th, 2008! Stay tuned!
Two of our Hunks!
My ex-neighbour aka classmate aka good friend aka tall beauty!
Another peek at our Hunks!
My 'twin' sister... Ok, maybe not really 'twin', with different parents and she's taller and wiser. But we do have one thing in common! Our birthday! November always produce beautiful babes especially on the 28th!

My darling honey made in Country M and with Dialect H... Make a guess!

Hunks trying hard to act cuter than the Babes!!! LOL!!!
Kiss me baby!!!
Retarded Fellows! Hee...
War of the drum and sticks!!!
Chopsticks Fight!
More photos coming up once I receive them from our darling messenger.
It was a very fun 3hr dinner. Hope that we can have this kind of gathering more often and with more old friends next time.
Actually, for me, it's making new friends every time cos I used to be the shy girl and missed out on the fun in school... Stupid girl...
Nevermind, it's now 'Catch Up' Time!!!

Went to Mac Donald last night to practise basic drawing for a dressmaking course I took up recently. This thursday will be my 2nd lesson and I am still pretty nervous about it.

I took picture of my favourite drink (Mac Fluffy) with my hp because the coffee art was so nice... Usually when I order it, the mac staff would just draw a simple smiley or sprinkle cocoa powder on top. The mac lady really took effort to 'draw' for this cheap cheap drink(only $1++!). I went to mac's website and it wasnt even on their online menu! Probably mac donald think it's too cheap to even deserve a place in the virtual world... Sobz..

Friends always mistaken fluffy for flurry and I always get this weird look on their faces. Mac Flurry is oreo ice-cream and Mac Fluffy is basically hot milk + foam + chocolate sauce/powder + marshmallow. I love it when the marshmallow melts and turn into a foamy texture when dunked into the hot milk... Mmmm... Heavenly.... That's what I call simple pleasure...
