Dinner last Saturday (19th July 2008) was at Werner's Oven.
Passed by this restaurant while we were looking for a place for our meal around East Coast area. (The huge pretzel hanging from the ceiling is so cute, really spiced up the family style restaurant)
We had the large bowl at $9.80 (small bowl is $6.80)
Yummy! The best part is the sausage cubes which made the soup even more toothsome!
Too bad the bun that came with it was cold and slightly tough.
Appetiser - Cheese served with Cranberry Sauce $9.80 (Fritierter Camembert Käsebreaded)
Main Course - Farmer's sausage $21.50
Yummy, so full, wonder whether we still can have durian for dessert later???
It's been a long time since I found the right restaurant for the perfect meal in Singapore (My last treasure find was New Green Pasture).
My idea for perfect dinner means that the overall dinner experience must be good enough for me to decide that I will want to come again and I finally found it at Werner's Oven! Yay!
I still cant forget the mouth watering black forest cake I ate in Titisee, Germany, so I have been keen to try the black forest cake in every German Restaurant that I can find in Singapore ever since I am back.
I was disappointed when I could not find it at Paulaner Bräuhaus, the 1st German Restaurant that I visited after my holiday. I thought I was in for another disappointment when I couldnt find the cake in Werner's menu. However, upon checking out with the boss's daughter, I was delighted to find that they actually do made-to-order black forest cake (min. 1 kg/$45). I am definitely going to try it some day.
There are quite a number of good and bad online reviews on Werner's. Well, it's individualism at work. In spite of that, I do sincerely recommend German food enthusiast to try it. (This restaurant lasted almost 20years for a reason :) )
End of dinner, supper cum dessert time at Four Season Durians later!!!
