Sony Cyber-shot W150

Friday, 25th July 2008

Yay!!! Finally bought my dream camera. This is not a top-end camera but definitely a very good and useful one.

After many experience with Digital Cameras, I have finally realised that there can never be a perfect camera and you don't always have to spend a bomb for a good one.

Leaving out the very technical part (which I am still a 'semi-cooked egg' at it), I would like to share my thoughts on the very basics on how to 'idiot-proof-ly' choose cameras.

For photography enthusiast, the idea situation is to own two different cameras.

The first camera should be equipped with a high Optical Zoom (at least 10x) and high Mega Pixels (at least 5Mps) for travel/scenery photography.

The second one should be a light portable one with high ISO for low light/Indoor shots (prevent blurry photos), at least 3x optical zoom and high Mega Pixels as well.

Since I already own a Canon with 12x Optical Zoom for travel use, what I need is a good portable camera (with an affordable price tag), which is why I choose this Sony W150. At $415, it is worth every cents.

It comes with 8.1Mps, 5x Optical Zoom, Excellent Flash and my main criteria - High ISO for low light situations.

High ISO solves problems with blurry shots but produce another headache in the form of grainy details, so only use high ISO when you need to solve the 'blurry' problem. Lower the ISO when there are enough lightings.

Do share with me useful photography tips if you have any, I would be happy to learn more. Make sure it is 'dummy-intended', otherwise '???' will start popping out of my almost 'kosong' brain, hee...
