Yaki Yaki Bo Japanese Restaurant Jurong Point

Saturday, 25th October 2008

Went to this 'Japanese Street' in Jurong Point, with every restaurant selling Japanese Food. We chose to dine at Yaki Yaki Bo which is located at the end of the 'street'

I think this is Okonomuyaki. (Tasted like Takoyaki ---Japanese Octopus ball) There were several flavours for you to choose. We choose a seafood set that comes with rice and side dishes.

Similar to normal Teppanyaki

Chicken and Prawn on Garlic Bread - The bread itself was tasty, the chicken and prawn was only above average

There were several tables with different chefs. 'Our chef' was the 'slow and steady' type, which in Hokkien means 'Kang Hu Bei Gao', in Cantonese means 'breathless wok'. Get what I am trying to say? Well, to put it in simple words --- Food is blandly bland....???!!!

Server helped us wear the 'dining apron', those type that you sometimes see people wearing when they eat crab.

The most edible food in our set.

The rice was a real disappointment. I only managed to eat 2 spoonful.
Green Tea was terrible. It was so bland that I thought they forgot to add tea in. When I ask the waitress about it, she give us a very lame answer. She simply replied "This is green tea, green tea taste like that." *Faintz*

Verdict:
Overall experience was less than satisfactory. Weird combination of Garlic Bread with Prawn and Chicken. Tea tasted like plain water. Garlic Fried Rice tasted like plain rice with oil. The onion bowl chawanmushi (not in the picture) was interesting but slightly overcooked. Okonomuyaki (the main course) was alright but i rather eat the cheaper version (Takoyaki). What more can I say...
